My favorite memory....how can one identify one single moment in their life as their favorite?
I can.
You see, every woman has a dream when she finds out the she is pregnant. The dream of having a baby placed in your arms. A warm little snuggly bundle of love and dreams and expectations. And for neither my daughter or my son did that dream come true.
My daughter was alive, heart beating, body breathing, outside of my womb for five whole days before she was placed in my arms. And I had to wear a protective safety gown and disinfect my hands first. And it lasted five minutes, because she couldn't keep her body temperature up so they had to put her back in the incubator.
But you know what? The memory of holding my daughter, my firstborn, for the first time, all warm and full of hope and dreams....the vision of seeing my son the very moment they would let me, they are my favorite memories. Always.
